The Easter
Oratorio Wednesday, May 4, 2022 | 7PM The Church of the Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Our season concludes with an Oratorio of hope, this one much shorter in length for Easter composed in 1725 in Leipzig. Again, the full forces of chorus, soloists, and the Philadelphia Bach Collegium will join together in the exuberant retelling of the resurrection story as we look forward to our 40th Season celebration.

Giacomo Carissimi Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 | 7PM The Church of The Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square Sunday, November 14th, 2021 | 4PM Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, PA Renewed, rejuvenated, and rediscovered...Choral Arts Philadelphia is BACK for its 39th season with two newly uncovered Oratorios by Giacomo Carissimi. Considered the inventor of the Oratorio, experience the stories of Noah's Flood and David's fight against the giant, Goliath unheard and nearly lost for over 300 years.

Valor Sunday, February 20, 2022 | 4PM Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, PA Having just been visited by the Holy Spirit, old man Simeon was promised he would not see death until he beheld the savior of Israel. Upon meeting and holding Jesus in his arms, Simeon utters the Nunc Dimittis. Komschlies’ setting of the Nunc Dimittis Cantata is a tour de force with chorus, soloists, and baroque orchestra. Paired masterfully with The Magnificat by 17th Century composer nun Sister Isabella Leonarda, this concert shows the intensity of these Women of Valor. |

New Year's Eve Bach Celebration
December 31, 2021 | 4PM Episcopal Cathedral Ring in the New Year with the six Cantatas known as the Christmas Oratorio originally performed in 1733/1734 over the 12 days of Christmas, our New Years Eve concert has become a favorite Holiday tradition in Philadelphia. This performance will feature chorus, soloists, and full forces of the Philadelphia Bach Collegium baroque orchestra. |
* Our chamber programs are produced and presented by members of the Philadelphia Bach Collegium, a chamber ensemble of period instruments, resident of the Bach Festival of Philadelphia.
