New Year's Eve with Monteverdi Vespers
Our recently established tradition of a New Year’s Eve celebration continues!
Join us for the only performance in Philadelphia honoring Claudio Monteverdi’s 450th birthday with his breathtaking and revolutionary Vespro della Beata Vergine (1610).
Be transported into the soaring strains of solemn vespers as Venetians would have in 1610 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Mark.  For this performance, we are joined by the members of Dark Horse Consort, an ensemble dedicated to the brass music of the early 17th century.

Tribute to Michael Korn
Benita Valente and Anthony Checchia
Co-Chairs of the Michael Korn Tribute Committee
Special concert honoring the legacy of Michael Korn, the innovative Philadelphia musician, organ virtuoso and choral conductor.  Korn is the founder of the Philadelphia Bach Festival and Philadelphia Singers, as well as the national non-profit association Chorus America. Korn died at the age of 44, leaving a legacy of excellence in professional choral singing which still stands nationwide today.
The evening of remembering and celebrating Korn's legacy was held at Chestnut Hill's  St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the very first performance venue in which he presented and conducted his Bach Festival concerts from 1976 until 1988.
