Our season concludes with an Oratorio of hope, this one much shorter in length for Easter composed in 1725 in Leipzig. Again, the full forces of chorus, soloists, and the Philadelphia Bach Collegium will join together in the exuberant retelling of the resurrection story as we look forward to our 40th Season celebration.

Women of
Valor

Sunday, February 20, 2022 | 4PM
Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, PA

Having just been visited by the Holy Spirit, old man Simeon was promised he would not see death until he beheld the savior of Israel. Upon meeting and holding Jesus in his arms, Simeon utters the Nunc Dimittis. Komschlies’ setting of the Nunc Dimittis Cantata is a tour de force with chorus, soloists, and baroque orchestra. Paired masterfully with The Magnificat by 17th Century composer nun Sister Isabella Leonarda, this concert shows the intensity of these Women of Valor.
