For years now, the hottest ticket in Philadelphia on New Year’s Eve is Choral Arts Philadelphia’s afternoon concert. Ring in the new year with Händel’s colossal Messiah with the full resources of Choral Arts Philadelphia and Philadelphia Bach Collegium.
Georg Friedrich Händel composed the Messiah in 1741 and it debuted in Dublin in 1742. Since then, Händel’s beloved oratorio has been performed thousands of times all over the world. By using period instruments and historically informed performance practices, we offer the unique opportunity to hear the music as originally envisioned. The soloists for the performance include multi-Grammy Award winning sopranos Jessica Beebe and Rebecca Meyers, alto Robin Bier, countertenor Nicholas Garza, tenors Eric Carey and Steven Soph, and basses Steven Eddy and Charlie Moore.
