"With these intimate mid-week ‘culture breaks’,
we want to keep building a closer relationship between performers and listeners, to help people realize that beauty is an essential aspect of our daily lives and needn't be a big event. It is like planting a garden in the middle of a city along the sidewalk.”

- Matthew Glandorf, Artistic Director & Conductor
"Inspired in part by the "Bach at One" series at Trinity Wall Street in New York, the series promises monthly Bach-oriented concerts outside the typical concert slots... Wonderful idea - and cosmopolitan. How often, when visiting major European cities, do you discover early-evening classical concerts offering a good dose of music without monopolizing your evening?... The idea's time has come..."
- The Philadelphia Inquirer (from "Early-evening Bach finds its audience" by David Patrick Stearns, October 19, 2013)
The series offers a unique concert format:

* Mid-week early evening programs lasting no longer than one hour

* Pay-What-You-Wish general admission, with open seating and no ticket sales

* Opening brief live notes by Artistic Director Matthew Glandorf

* A featured work by J.S. Bach (choral, instrumental, solo) accompanied by thematically related music from all periods, including new music

* Post-concert mingle with peers and artists, while enjoying food and beverages

Featured on WHYY/NPR/PBS "Friday Arts" in 2014-2015, this is an inspiring documentary about the idea and people behind the Bach at Seven series. Narrated by Artistic Director Matthew Glandorf.

The Bach @7 audience members share their experiences at the post-concert reception following the world premiere performance of O Antiphons (an Advent 7-song cycle by seven Philadelphia composers). The commission was paired in concert with J.S. Bach Cantata 61. December 2, 2015.
